How They Work
Zoned homes will have more than one thermostat while using only one furnace and/or air conditioner. For example, in a large colonial-style home, the first floor may be zoned separately from the second floor. In this case each floor will have it own thermostat.
 
    • A multi-zone electronic panel receives a demand for heating and cooling from
     one of the thermostats.
    • The panel will then open or close the proper dampers to direct the conditioned air       to the part of the home that is calling for heating or cooling.
